Blockopolis – Version 4.1 Devlog


Hello Architects, we have released a quick balance and bug fix update for prototype 4.


Balancing changes:

  • Population points are now exponentially bigger and thus are harder to accomplish without office and residential buildings. This prevents the player from spamming factory buildings as a viable strategy and rewards instead on long-term planning combining all of the 3 buildings.
  • City upgrades and building upgrades are more rewarding in response to higher population points. Rewards the player to try get the next city level and finish buildings while taking risks.
  • Higher bricks amount at start to encourage long term planning
  • Initial building's max level is 3 instead of 4 to introduce the player of the finished building mechanic faster
  • Added slightly more variety to the initial spawned bricks in the buildings

Bug fixes and additions:

  • Fixed shops deducting 2 items when applied instead of 1
  • Added a lose condition when you run out of space if all the buildings are finished but a new city level was not reached
  • Added "GOAL" text for the population slider to focus the player on the main goal of the game
